New NIH Policies Resource & Delay of Common Form Implementation
March 28, 2025
New NIH Resource: Implementation of New Initiatives and Policies page
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has released a new Implementation of New Initiatives and Policies page. This page serves as a central location for the latest information on recent and upcoming changes that impact applications and grants administration.
Page Highlights
- NIH Grants and Funding Information Status: Latest status of changes impacting NIH grants administration and funding (e.g., funding opportunities, application guidance).
- Upcoming Changes: Latest status on in-progress initiatives like the adoption of Biographical Sketch and Current and Pending (Other) Support.
- Recent Changes: Key initiatives implemented in 2024 that culminated in numerous changes to grant application content and review for due dates on or after January 25, 2025, and any adjustments made to those initiatives.
DELAYED: NIH Common Forms Implementation for Biosketches and Other Support
A notable upcoming change is the postponement of the NIH Common Forms Implementation for Biographical Sketch and Current and Pending (Other) Support. NIH is postponing the May 25, 2025, implementation for all applications and Research Performance Progress Reports (RPPRs). NIH will issue future Guide Notices outlining the new effective date and additional implementation details as they are finalized. Until further notice NIH applicants and recipients should continue to use the current NIH Biosketch and Other Support format pages for applications, Just-in-Time (JIT), and RPPRs.
